Portfolio of Work

Below you'll find some of the pieces I've made for competitions and commissions. A collection of jewellery, silverware and sculptures. I pride myself on being able to make anything that anyone can think of, and I strongly encourage a challenge. The crazier the idea the better.

Rhododendron Beakers

Although I started the work on these while studying at West Dean College, I completed them at the start of my year with the Bishopsland Educational Trust.

Both made from Britannia silver, one is slightly slimmer and taller, the other is wider and shorter. I wanted to make a set of cups that would look great individually or together.

Chased Feather Cuff

I started making this piece with the help of Rod Kelly when i visited him with several other Bishopsland fellows in 2022. I wanted to make a piece of jewellery that I could treat and work on as if it was a piece of silverware.

Heavy Bottomed Daisy Tumbler

This piece was made for an event at Goldsmiths' Hall to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Bishopsland Educational Trust. Bishopsland fellows who have competed the residency were invited to display a piece of silver that shows off their skills, either at present or a piece from their time at Bishopsland.

This oxidised and engraved sterling silver and 18ct gold tumbler was first forged from a thick ingot and then raised so that it's thick base weighs the piece down and keeps it upright.

Argentium Spider Brooch

For this commission, I was asked to re-create a 'Lady Hale' styled spider brooch for the client's wife. This was a great opportunity to put my skill for argentium fusing to the test - my aim is to avoid soldering whenever possible.

Argentium Snake Brooch

Although the making of this brooch wasn't very challenging, I fully appreciated the chance to create the smooth organic form. Again, this was a great opportunity for some fusing practice. The original plan was to set a couple of rubies as the eyes, but I didn't feel it would add anything to the overall look.

Textured and Engraved Bracelet

Part of a heartwarming commission I was given during a particularly fortunate pub visit. The client asked me to replicate the bracelet made for them by their partner and add personalised engraving for various family members.

Customised Utility Knife

A birthday present commissioned by my brother. I was given total freedom when it came to the making of this knife. It was to be used by a tree surgeon as a general utility knife so I knew it had to be tough, easy to maintain and versatile. I also appreciate the chance to work on something other than silver for a change.

Forged Argentium Cocktail Spoons

I like to work on these spoons whenever I get the opportunity. I find that the simple act of forging out a square handle is a great practice. I plan to use these as part of a future cocktail set project. Each step is a new milestone and I plan to each component of the set to show off my level of skill.

'The Great Frog' Competition Entries

My entry into the The Great Frog London's yearly creative competition. The brief is to re-create any of their jewellery in your own form of art - therefore I created these pieces in response to their style, all made from recycled silver and copper that I had in my workshop.

Rhododendron and Peacock Beakers

Here are a few images of my work towards my final project at West Dean College. This work was inspired by the grounds of the college where at the time of designing this silver beakers, my favourite flower (the rhododendron) was beginning to bloom. The engraved peacock feather is there to represent Edward James, the founder of the college.
